Cosplay and Kpop: 2011 Pinoy Otaku Encore
This past few weeks there are so many event that we need to go to; from carshows, fashion-shows, and also our favorite cosplay shows — three event in a row. The last cosplay event that we went is the 2011 Pinoy Otaku Encore which was held on November 26-27, 2011 at the Megatrade Hall 3 in SM Megamall, Mandaluyong. This event is a meet-up of two cultures; Japanese culture and Korean culture especially the emerging K-pop community.
As expected, cosplayers and also people from the K-pop went to the said event like swarm of bees — Especially the day of the event, imagine you are shopping in Divisoria.
Inside, there are booths that are selling stuff— from anime, manga, comics, cosplay, jpop, or kpop—to customers and visitors. Inside of the event, they prepared a program— dancing and singing contest on both Jpop and Kpop cultures—that excite more to the experience and an auction bidding — this is nice, hope there will more of this kind. And also by the way the event is similar to the Asian Expo held last time also here in Megatrade Hall.
Outside of the event's premises you will see cosplayers showing their costumes from their favorite animation — whether Japanese or American based— and offering free pictures to photographers or even people who are into this culture.
Familiar faces from the cosplay culture were also present at the said event, especially day two — Oh Dave Perez you're so obvious, you have a big crushed on *MEOW lol!
Hope Kpop culture next year I wish I will see more people from the Kpop culture attending this kind of event. Like to thanks Dave Perez for his contribution of the images of the event.
Here are some of the images of cosplayers from the recent 2011 Pinoy Otaku Encore - Just click the thumbnail to enlarge the photos.
