Cosplay Competition at the 2011 Sapatos/Shoe Festival in SM City Marikina, Philippines

We went on the event around two or three in the afternoon, thought we are already late. But the again we are very early this time. The staff from the event are just setting up their sounds and testing their lights — The event started at five pm.


First of all, kinda weird that a cosplay competition held on a weekdays, like wednesday to be exact; in which some cosplayers are having classes or have classes that time. But, when I reached the place—the event was held at SM City Marikina—the city is celebrating their Shoe Festival. Well, to give an idea, if you are not a Filipino, Marikina is the shoe-capital of the Philippines; and all I can say is, in terms of quality, shoes produce there are "bulletproof".


So before the event started there is a cosplay within the premises. Displaying their crafts to the public. People around that area are having a good time of taking pictures with their favorite cosplayers.


So the program started with the Philippine national anthem; and then dance number from the locals of Marikina like the Shoeshine boys on the track by LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem.

After that dance number, the cosplay competition starts. Many cosplayers participate on the competition, which is very suprising and most of them are locals of Marikina and Rizal Province. At the event, the girl in a Voltron suit and the Angel of Death or Black Angel—do apologize if I am not correct—caught my attention.

Also, the mayor of Marikina visit the event thanking the audience for supporting the celebration of the city — take note; the golden warmachine, the gray suit warmachine, and the angel of death escorted the mayor to the stage.




After that, the Lady Gaga competition started. There is a contestant there which looks like the exact Lady Gaga on the Judas music video which he claim the prize. The winner on the cosplay category is the girl in Voltron.
